"We see jewellery as another way for a woman to (express) herself," Eliza Bolen, creative director of licensing for Oscar de la Renta, told WWD. "We all like to accessorise. It's another dimension, another fashion you can put on." With prices ranging from $35 to $250, the range will hit stores like Macy's in early August. Although the O Oscar collection is exclusive to Macy's, the fashion jewellery range - and other product ranges - will be more widely distributed.
Expect to find gems like chain necklaces with black coral branches and beads, a resin link bracelet adorned with grey and white pearls and signature Oscar de la Renta looks such as a scripted "O" and the quilted fabric technique. According to Gabrielle Fialkoff, executive vice president and COO of Haskell Jewels, costume jewellery is on the rise again and predicts the range will generate about £2 million in wholesale volume in the first year of sales.
