The British Fashion Council today has announced the names of London’s brightest emerging fashion designers who have been selected to receive BFC Newgen sponsorship, supported by Topshop, and Newgen Men sponsored by Topman to show at London Fashion Week in February 2012.
Newgen catwalk sponsorship will be given to David Koma, Holly Fulton and Michael van der Ham to showcase their AW12 collections, as well as J.JS Lee, J.W. Anderson and Simone Rocha, who receives Newgen catwalk support for the first time, in recognition of her previous collection generating great press coverage and gaining prestigious stockist.
Presentation sponsorship has been awarded to Christopher Raeburn and Thomas Tait; with installation support going to milliner Nasir Mazhar and progressive knitwear brand, SISTER by SIBLING; and designers Lucas Nascimento and Huishan Zhang have received Newgen sponsorship for the first time and will be showcasing in the exhibition at London Fashion Week, alongside James Long, Palmer//Harding, and Tim Soar, who will presents his second stand-alone womenswear line.
Established in 1993, Newgen’s sponsorship scheme has assisted designers including Alexander McQueen, Matthew Williamson, Boudicca, Giles Deacon, Jonathan Saunders, Christopher Kane, Marios Schwab, Richard Nicoll, Erdem, Mary Katrantzou and Meadham Kirchhoff. In 2012, Topshop will celebrate ten years of backing the scheme at LFW, and major celebrations which have taken a myriad of designers to the top are planned for February.
Also today the BFC has announced that eight emerging menswear designers will receive sponsorship from its designer support initiative Newgen MEN, which showcases on Menswear day on February 22. The line up for AW12 will feature catwalk shows from Christopher Shannon and J.W. Anderson; Salon Show presentations from Lou Dalton, Martine Rose and Matthew Miller; and Bunney, Christopher Raeburn and SIBLING will produce installations.

London Fashion Week will run from February 17-22, 2012 and will once again be located at Somerset House.
