Fred Perry wins damages from SecretSales

Fashion brand Fred Perry has settled a trademark dispute with online fashion retailer SecretSales over the sale of counterfeit polo shirts bearing the label’s name and logo.

SecretSales admitted that it infringed the brand’s trademark rights by offering the products bearing the words ‘Fred Perry’ and the Laurel Wreath logo, which are both registered trademarks of Fred Perry, and has agreed to pay damages to the brand.

As part of the settlement, SecretSales has paid undisclosed damages and legal costs to the sportswear brand, in addition to agreeing never to sell the infringed product in the future.

In a statement Fred Perry said: “We are extremely proud of our heritage and iconic Laurel Wreath logo.

“We will not hesitate to enforce our intellectual property rights when they are infringed and we will continue to take action against the manufacturers and sellers of counterfeit versions of our garments.”

This is the latest intellectual property rights win for Fred Perry, earlier this year the brand also settled disputes with both Arcadia Group and The Hut Group after the retailers were found to be selling items featuring the brand’s name and logo.
