British fashion designer Stella McCartney has been named the new patron of Designer for Tomorrow, a competition for emerging designers sponsored by German retailer Peek & Cloppenburg Duesseldorf.
McCartney succeeds Marc Jacobs, who served as the competitions first high-profile patron and jury member for the past two years. As patron, the British designer will be involved in the entire award process from reviewing the applications submitted by designers from across Europe, to selecting her top ten.
“I am delighted to offer my active support to up-and-coming talent in the fashion world and am excited about looking through all the submissions and the high level of potential that awaits us,” said McCartney.
In May, the designer will head to Berlin to view the finalists’ collections before deciding along with a jury, who will be named ‘Designer for Tomorrow 2013’ during fashion week in Berlin in July.
