French fashion house Balmain announced today that Olivier Rousteing will succeed Christophe Decarnin.
In a briefly worded statement that seemed intended to suggest that little would change, Balmain said that Mr. Rousteing has been in charge of the brand’s women’s design studio since 2009. His previous job was at Roberto Cavalli, where he spent five years. The appointment will see Rousteing supervise the design and development of the brand’s men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collections.
Olivier Rousteing was born in France and raised in Bordeaux. He completed his fashion studies at Paris’s École Supérieure Des Arts Et Techniques De La Mode (ESMOD) in 2003.
