The strategic partnership will see Google and Luxottica working together on the creation of innovative iconic wearable devices that will “straddle the line” between high-fashion, lifestyle and innovative technology.
Luxottica has a number of eyewear brands but the two that will be utilised in the collaboration will be Ray-Ban and Oakley, which have a 10-year heritage in wearable technology that has evolved from MP3 to HUD devices. However, the announcement didn’t reveal any details about these new products, just that they would be disclosed at a later stage.
