ASOS H1 retail sales up 34 percent

REPORT_ Announcing its interim results for the six months ending February 28, 2014, ASOS said that it retail sales went up 34 percent. UK retail sales were up 32 percent, while international retail sales reported a rise of 35 percent. Company witnessed 8.2 million active customers at February 28, 2014, up 36 percent compared to prior year.

Commenting on the financial development, Nick Robertson, CEO, said, “I am pleased to report another strong trading performance for the six month period, with retail sales up 120 million pounds (199.4 million dollars) to 472.3 million pounds (785.6 million dollars). We are now investing in the capacity to support a truly global business with sales of 2.5 billion pounds (4.1 billion dollars) as the next staging post on our journey.”

The company continued to invest in its China operations. Its 68 million pounds (113.1 million dollars) investment during the current year is expected to double the sales capacity with greatly enhanced efficiencies at its UK warehouse, a new Eurohub in Berlin, an expanded facility in Ohio in the US and a new warehouse in Shanghai.
