London Fashion Week Designer Mary Katrantzou has teamed up with Adidas to launch a capsule collection of Adidas Originals, which will feature apparel and footwear with Katrantzou vivid patterns and designs.
The collaborative collection is said to be the start of a long-term partnership between the designer and the sportswear brand, with the first collection slanted to launch for fall/winter 2014.
“I'm really excited to be working with Adidas on a line of apparel and footwear. I grew up, like so many other kids around the world, wearing Adidas sneakers and I'm really excited about bringing my visions to such a global brand,” said Katrantzou in a press statement sent out by Adidas on Wednesday.
“[Adidas] has a fantastic heritage and their ability to innovate in sportswear makes them the perfect partner for us to work with this market,” the designer added. Katrantzou joins the likes of Stella McCartney, Raf Simons and Pharrell Williams by teaming up with the German sportswear brand.
Dirk Schoenberger, global creative director of Adidas Sport Style division said: “The collaboration between Adidas and Mary Katrantzou merges the exceptional talent of one of the most interesting designers of today and a company that embraces many different cultures from sports, pop, music and fashion.”
“I admire Mary's extraordinary sense of printing techniques, colors and silhouettes that will bring another amazing new aesthetic to the Adidas originals women's collection.”
Adidas Originals by Mary Katrantzou will be available in stores from November 2014.
