Alexander Wang is H&M's latest designer collaboration

H&M chose to unveil its latest designer collaboration during Coachella, the hipster music festival in California. The Swedish conglomerate confirmed it is teaming up with New York label Alexander Wang for a capsule mens and womens collection.

H&M host an annual event at the Coachella festival and chose to announce the collaboration with its first American based designer in 10 years. Wang himself chose to inaugurate his Instagram account with the news.

Wang's collection is contemporary and good for all ages

“We’ve always liked Alexander’s designs,” stated H&M’s creative advisor, Margareta van den Bosch. “He’s very contemporary. It’s very young, but it’s also things that can be worn by any age because of his influences in tailoring and sport. He’s very much today.”

Wang, stated he was he was honored to have been chosen, not only because he’s the first American, but also because it’s the tenth anniversary. “The idea of collaborations isn’t new anymore, they’ve been done from all angles,” he began. “When they approached me, I wanted to do something different. It will be a new take on a lifestyle offering. It’s a little early to talk about it, but it’s a completely new take on how they do collaborations.”

When asked his thoughts about fast fashion, Wang told WWD: "It's a different era and a different world today and I think everything is changing, the whole system of fashion and design and I think there's an opportunity for everyone to create and do something that is different and individual. I think it's a really interesting thing and how it all correlates to the industry and how it's all evolving."

The collection will launch in over 250 H&M retail stores on November 6th.
