FIT's Summer Institute; Sustainability in Fashion and Textiles - Reinvention & Innovation

Sustainability in Fashion and Textiles is a four-day series of lectures, discussions, site visits, and hands-on workshops focusing on sustainability and technology in fashion and textiles. Sessions in Sustainable Business will cover various aspects of how sustainability is integrated into  the supply chain in the fashion industry, from the academic and industry perspective, including major stake holders.

A new component of the Summer Institute, the Textile Toolbox exhibition, will showcase ten design concepts inspired by research from Mistra (the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Environmental Research) on the sustainability of the fashion and textile industry. The exhibition functions as a research and public engagement tool formed around the TED TEN, design strategies for innovative sustainability thinking and action. It will be on view from June 8-19, in the lobby of the Fred P. Pomerantz Art and Design Center.
