Better Business, Better Lives ETI movie 3 Years, 5 Months ago
This is a tool for responsible companies and suppliers in their work to promote ethical trading. This film has been made to increase awareness on business practices impact on working conditions in the supply chain.
The actual time given to produce the product is ever-shorter and one of the root causes of excessive overtime amongst workers in global supply chains. Furthermore, pressure from retailers to reduce price can make it difficult for suppliers to pay decent wages. Ethical Trading Initiative - Norway (ETI-Norway) has therefore initiated a workgroup, with ten of our members, who will work on exactly these issues; business practices and living wages.
Although this film voices Chinese supplier`s opinions and experiences, we emphasise that producers in many countries and industries face the same challenges.
Business practices are one of the principles in ETI-Norway’s recommended model to work by for implementation of Codes of Conducts.
ETI-Norway is an independent multi stakeholder membership based resource centre and advocate for ethical trade practises. We give advice and presents tools for businesses who wish to improve working conditions in the supply chain.
We are hoping for increased collaboration and that this will be a drive for the work to achieve responsible business practices and improving labor conditions.

Very interresting.I want the garment industry to change.Stop poluting and pay a living wage. However I am can't get into shops because retailers can't afford the organic & fair trade prices. By the time they pay the rent and employees. They don't have enough room to stay in Biz. Education is the key.
I don't know how other designers live with the bad choices they are making. Child labor & chemicals in the fabrics that are effecting workers health.
