The mood - Using the film Blade Runner as a backdrop The Descending Nude present Asahi (morning sun). Set in Los Angeles in the year 2019, a world of urban chaos and confusion drenched in perpetual darkness, acid rain and flickering neon with futuristic skyscrapers scattered amongst dilapidated tenement blocks. Inspiration - Looking more towards the form and shape of a building, chair or robotic characters for inspiration, to create sculptural texture to enhance abstract and minimalist forms, achieved through the use of wrinkles, organic and abstract pleating, painting, quilting, and inventive cutting and fusing these elements with the mood of the film to dress the two main characters of Asahi.
