Karl Lagerfeld showed his Chanel 2013 cruise collection in Versailles this week.
Using the lush palace gardens as a catwalk and fountains as a backdrop, Lagerfeld presented a modern day day century wardrobe with a nod to Marie Antoinette. Modern were the embroidered chambrays and denims, platform trainers, structured dresses and city shorts. Executed in the most tasteful way, they were mixed with 18th century detailing like panniers, courtier cuffs and intricate lace.
