Desigual expands e-commerce site

Spanish fashion brand, Desigual has launched its e-commerce site into the American market, a year after its launch in Europe. The site has gone live to coincide with two of the most important trading days in the US, Black Friday on November 25, and Cyber Monday, November 28.

The online channel sells mens, womens, kids and accessories collections, as well as designs made in collaboration with French designer Christian Lacroix, and coming in December the site will also sell the Desigual collection inspired by Cirque Du Soleil. The site will continue its expansion into 2012, with the addition of the new women’s footwear collection, Desigual Shoes from next spring.

Since late 2010, the brand has had an online presence in eight European countries: Spain, Germany, France, the UK, Holland, Italy, Austria and Belgium, and currently receives over 800,000 visits per month.

With the onset of e-commerce operations in the United States, Desigual expects online sales to account for 10% of the turnover of the company.

Last year, Desigual ended with more than 1,000 outlets in the America, with its own stores spread over 7, 950 multi-brand stores and 45 corners in department stores. The brand, which had a turnover of 440 M € in 2010 is planning to continue its expansion into different European markets, Asian and American over the next year.
