 Nike released images and a short press release on their new sportswear outpost on Manhattan. It is the first Nike Sportswear-specific store of its kind and it will be located in the heart of Soho, on 21 Mercer Street. Opening August 22nd, the stand-alone shop will be the only location
 globally to carry the complete Nike Sportswear collection and seasonal 21 Mercer products. The store will have some special treats for its customers, such as exclusive products (the Flywire Windrunner, the ‘21 Mercer Nike LunaRacer’) and a unique service that will allow shoppers to customize their own pair of Air Force 1s.
The store opening was originally scheduled on 8.8.08 to coincide with the Olympic opening day buzz, but as it goes with stores and construction, it did take longer than expected. The store itself has a boutique-y appeal and none of the hypermodern, light design of Nike Town on 53rd Street.
