The US-based non-profit organisation WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production) is organising two seminars in China,
in collaboration with SGS.
With these seminars, WRAP. tries to raise knowledge on social and ethical issues facing organizations. The seminars will take place in Shenzhen and in Shanghai, under the title "Foundation and Executive Understanding". Focus will be on the requirements of WRAP principles, how to establish, maintain and implement a social system, the benefits of a Social System certified company, and a brief overview of local and national law. Headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, WRAP is an independent, non-profit organisation dedicated to the certification of factories engaged in lawful, humane and ethical manufacturing throughout the world. The WRAP Certification Program is based on 12 production principles focusing on compliance with local laws, workplace regulations, universal workers' rights, the environment, customs compliance and security. Factories that demonstrate proper adoption, deployment and monitoring of all 12 production principles receive certification for one year. With this comprehensive factory-based model, WRAP has become the world's largest facility certification program focused on workplace conditions, with over 1400 factories in more than 86 countries participating in the Certification Program. It's partner in these seminars, SGS, was established in 1878, and today is the world's leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, recognized as the global benchmark for quality and integrity. The two seminars will take place in Shenzhen on November 25 and in Shanghai on December 2, 2008. |
