Tibi designer Amy Smilovic knows a thing or two about the orient, and her Spring Summer 2009 collection which she showed in New York
this week was inspired by 'A room with a view', set in Asia, in the 1980s. Smilovic, who lived in Hong Kong for over a decade, opened the show with an exquisite cream linen suit, setting the tone for a show full of delectabe, downtown-chic must-haves. The harem pant which Yves Saint Laurent introduced this season, was updated to a jumpsuit, draped skirt and shorts, and teamed with loose tops and blazers.
Favourite prints included the Momoko jacquard as featured on a mandarine dress and skirt, a butterfly print sleeve dress and hyacinth one shoulder applique dress. Whilst the Chinese pajamas may not prove themselves to be a bestseller, Tibi's prints and gorgeous dresses will keep loyal customers happy for the season to come.
