With this year's third annual national "Shop For A Cause" event, Macy's raised more than $9 million, bringing the total raised over
three years to more than $27 million. The event was held in all Macy's stores and on macys.com to help raise awareness and support for local charity organizations across the United States. The first nationally coordinated "Shop For A Cause" event was held in 2006.
Peter Sachse, president of Macy's Corporate Marketing said to be elated with the results of the event. "With a 150-year history of 'giving back' to our communities, we continue to be overwhelmed by what can be accomplished with innovative partnerships between companies, charities and customers." Through the "Shop for a Cause" program, Macy's provided shopping passes to local charities in all of its markets around the country. The shopping passes were sold by the charitable organizations for $5 each, keeping all of the shopping pass proceeds. Pass holders redeemed their passes at any Macy's store or online at macys.com to receive 20 percent off most men's, women's, kids, and accessories merchandise and 10 percent off most home items. |
