Fairtrade Week 2009 Netherlands

‘FAIR-Trouwen’ (wedding) will be the theme of Fairtrade Week 2009 which will be held from 29 October till 7 November in the Netherlands. Max Havelaar Foundation is literally getting down on her knees and proposes to consumers, entrepreneurs and communities, and is inviting them to a 'Fairtrade honeymoon'. This year’s Fairtrade week will be launched using the words ‘All You Need is FAIR-Trouwen’, which will be hosted by Dutch TV-star Robert ten Brink known from "All You Need is Love".

People will be introduced to the world of Fairtrade and the essence of trust. Fairtrade enables cotton farmers to receive a fair price for their products and create an reliable ambience to invest in knowledge, their family and a clean environment.

During this week several activities throughout the country are held to inform people about the different possibilities of Fairtrade. One of these events is a Fairtrade Cotton Congress held on Friday 30th October in Utrecht. Branded ‘’Make Fairtrade Cotton Your Business’’ the most important purpose of this day will be to share knowledge about the roots of cotton, problems and problem solutions, and how to contribute in making cotton Fairtrade.
