Sustainable fashion at Koldinghus.

Exhibition to be held from 7 May 2009 to 6 September 2009

We no longer want to wear clothes that damage the environment or that are made by underpaid workers or child-labour. The trend in the fashion business is clear – clothing has to be sustainable.

The exhibition “Fabric for Thought” takes a close-up look at the new trend. It shows the latest novelties in sustainable clothing and sustainable accessories – for men, women and children. It presents creations from the catwalks from the leading fashion houses in Europe and the USA, along with spectacular evening-wear in exquisite sustainable materials, smart suits made of re-cycled materials, dresses made out of newspapers and old ties, and manufacturers who give some of their profit to organisations such as Médicins sans Frontières or to children's homes in Latin America.

Finally the exhibition will display some of the more eccentric contributions to the sustainable trend: handbags plaited out of old juice-packs, raincoats made from old plastic cola bottles and dresses woven from the innards of worn-out cassette tapes.
The exhibition is intended as a source of inspiration for action and attitudes.
